THE PEOPLE’S FARM

The People’s Farm was created to begin the process of building food sovereignty for Black people in our locale. Food apartheid has made it difficult for our people to have access to produce as well as healthy foods. The People’s Farm is our first step in the process of building food autonomy for Black people in Oakland by not only providing free organic produce, but also developing the skills for people to grow their own food.

In 2024 we harvested 2 tons( 4,000 lbs.) of fresh produce, filling up 700+ boxes for our Grocery Program in the process. This was an increase from 2023 where we harvested 1,200 lbs of produce being put into over 2,400 boxes of groceries that were distributed to families in West Oakland! Since the start of this program in 2021 we've hosted over 300 community-wide workshops, helping folks develop the skills and knowledge needed to further entrench themselves in the movement for food sovereignty and autonomy!
